Why are iPhones so different than smart phones?

My gramma just got an iPhone and has no idea how to use it and I have to teach her how but I have a smart phone and I kept on looking for buttons that aren't there and on smartphones it is simple to set your ringtone but I have no idea how to on an iPhone my gramma wants Eric church for her ringtone and I have no idea how to do that and she wants a new message tone too! Someone please help me

Yes iphone are different from smartphones. My 5s seems to have less features than my samsung android ice cream sandwich. Thats the difference.
Well i too had trouble teaching my mother how to use it, all it takes is time.
-Follow the same trick computer teachers use, like making us paint and play mario to make us interested in computer and then teach us difficult excel sheets.
- Teach your grandma to play songs on phone first, she will start to like it, then soon she would herself start exploring it, my mom got interested in voice calling, and starting making notes, use calendar herself.

Ok so wouldn't you think you could just hold down the song and push set as ringtone like a smartphone? BUT NO you HAVE to go on the computer and do all this confusing stuff!

Smartphones and iPhones are two terms that actually go hand-in-hand. IPhones actually fall in to the smartphone category and fulfill the basic criteria of what a smartphone should be. IPhones are one of the most popular phones that are currently available on the market and is single-handedly providing competition to Android, Windows and many other operating systems available in the market. A smartphone is a phone that allows computing capabilities and has an operating system. The iPhones allows 3G, 4G, Wi-Fi and many other capabilities and runs on the iOS operating system, making the iPhone a smartphone. It is quite easy to get confused in all the technological terms which are constantly being simplified for the non-techies, but many people get caught up in the middle of the whole tech and non-tech language and end up becoming confused by various terms.

  • Why is the iphone so much better than other smart phones? I'm not trying to start a fight here. It just seems like Apple has access to alien technology or something. I've been trying to help my dad with his Samsung stratosphere and the difference is staggering. Another thing worth noting is that any of my friends who have non iphone smart phones also carry their ipod touches around with them. That says something.
  • Why do so many kids have iphones, blackberrys, and smart phones? I mean little kids as young as 5 years old. It really does annoy me because they are little and don't need a really expensive phone just for emergencies. I always see them on the phones and ipods. My brother is almost in middle school and has the cheapest phone. And i'm in highschool and my phone is nowhere near the expesive phones the elementary kids have infact my phone is used so i got for free.
  • What are the best types of smart phones that are not IPhones? I'm looking to buy a smart phone but I don't want an iPhone because my sister has one and might think my one is hers.
  • Recommend newish smart phones no bigger than iPhone 6? I know very little about smartphones and their rankings and such, as I still have the same phone from over 4 years ago. I want nothing bigger than the iPhone 6 as I value how comfy a phone is inside a pocket.
