Why are some American teens so ungrateful?
I don't know healthy young American teens seem so overprivileged to me. They worry about things like looking hot (even tho we all get old and ugly), their iphone battery and complain about school (even though they are lucky to be getting an education). Based on my calculations that kids are starving in third world countries and others plagued by horrible diseases, why aren't healthy American kids jumping for joy 24/7 instead if complaining about trivial issues?
Besides for the fact that this is a biased and generalized question, I hope you realize that there are "ungrateful teens" both in AND out of America. I know several American teenagers who care not about their external appearance, very much enjoy going and learning during school, and hardly even touch their phone. In fact, I have a friend who still has a flip phone, and he still barely even touches it. This is a generalized question, but I still see where you're coming from. Teenagers (or even adults) from any century and from any country or place are prone to be ungrateful/grateful, though varying from individual to individual, and we all know what causes it; they don't know what they have, they can't actually imagine what it's like to live under their current living standards, etc. It can happen to anyone, regardless of race, age, or gender.
And as for why they aren't jumping for joy because they aren't starving… Most people in general don't do that. If you're used to using the toilet everyday, then it's a dull, repetitive privilege. Of course nobody's going to jump for joy for their daily activities, even if others aren't granted with those same things. It's just something that doesn't continuously circle around in people's minds.
Just because you're privileged doesn't automatically mean you're happy. No matter how privileged you are you will always have something to complain about because that's just the way humans are. Humans complain about anything no matter how good their life is. We're not perfect. Everyone does that, not just American teens. You non-Americans need to stop throwing us under the freakin' bus. Everyone is imperfect.
Spoiled people everywhere, and don't speak for all Americans teens, because I don't act like that.
This isn't just a problem that plagues American teens you know.
When you raise teenagers in a society where they have all these opportunities third world ones do not you are going to automatically have an overprivileged group.
If you think teens in your area are spoiled, you should visit where I live (Forsyth County, Georgia). There are kids who constantly complain that their parents didn't get them right color Lamborghini.
I find majority to be ungrateful, all I can blame is bad parenting
What a stupid generalizing question.americans and teenagers arent the only ones like that.everybody always wants more then what they have.
I rolled my eyes so much I saw my optic nerves
Because their parents spoil them
It's impossible to be happy all the time, I'm sure you're not happy all the time, I'm sure you are sometimes irritated by minor things… It's a human thing.
I mean, are you jumping for joy? Because you seem a little butthurt when you ask a question like this…
What? Now we should guilt people into being happy and eternally positive? Lame.
I never liked that argument, "you should be happy because you're not suffering like people in Africa blah blah blah" - that's a stupid argument, it just makes me sad that others are suffering.
Some people are ungrateful, and it's obnoxious, I think it's usually because they've never worked for anything. Don't worry, the real world will tear most of them a new one.
- Why do so many teens buy iphones? I mean other phones can text and call friends and family exactly the same. Is it because of the games and apps, because if not then I think people are just wasting money to look 'Cool'.
- Why are some people so ungrateful of everything? I was wondering why kids these days are so ungrateful of the stuff they have? In my school kids are always bitching that they don't have the latest iPhone or the best computer. I mean they already have expensive electronics and stuff so why are they always wanting stuff? There's this one kid named Matthew and he has like 2 iPod's, a iPhone 5 and an AlienWare laptop(all of which his mom got him) and hes always complaining that he has nothing. What's your view on this?
- What are some sterotypes of white American girls? I'm an American, white, teen girl, with long blonde hair, I wear uggs, I wear pink, the brand pink, Hollister, American eagle, and what not. I have an iPhone, cracked the corner of the screen, and people say I'm a stereotypical white girl. And I would just like to know what are some stereotypes of white girls?
- What are some free IPhone apps for teens? I'm 13 and I got an iPhone 5 for Christmas. What are some free apps that are cool and I could use alot?
