Why can't I use @icloud.com email address after updating to iOS 6?

I've updated my iPhone to iOS 6 and according to Apple I'm supposed to receive an @icloud.com email address that matches my @me.com address.

But why can't I log in with the supposedly new address?

I don't believe it has changed to that yet. No reason why that I know of. So there's no option from my knowledge that you can use your email address with a @iCloud.com just yet.

If its already changed you need to log into iTunes with the @me.com address, then change your details to @icloud.com

Basically, if you already have a me.com address you'll automatically get an icloud.com address in a "few weeks". You'll be notified when it's available via… You guessed it… Email.
