Why does it say 'E' instead of 4G?
I have an iphone 5 by tmobile.sometimes it says 'E' at the top. I think it stands for 'edge' but i don't know what it means. What does it mean?
It stands for Error, it means there's no service where you are when that happens.
It actually does mean edge; your phone connects to the edge network when it can't connect to a 4G. The first iPhone used edge instead of 3G or 4G. It's slower but it uses less battery.
It stand for "edge". This happens when your phone does not have a good signal and can't retrieve 4g or 3g service, so it grabs the slower edge speeds. This is equivalent to dial up and can be fixed by simple rebooting or removing the sim card and reinstalling it. If you are still getting this problem, it may be that your are is not getting good reception.

Everywhere I have went with no Wi-Fi it has always said 3G, never 4g. I want 4g though!
