Why does my internet say its connected but doesn't work?

Ok so last night i was on my iPhone when suddenly my internet cut out. I went downstairs to the computer thinking "Huh, must have disconnected". But when i checked the signal on the computer it said it was connected, usually if it disconnects it shows a little caution symbol but it showed it was fine? I couldnt use the internet on the computer or my phone so it had the symptoms of disconnecting. This went on the entire night i reset it about 10 times within an hour and nothing fixed it.

Make sure you are actually connected to the iphone connection, restart or even take off and on the Wi-Fi, there may be a problem with the cables, probably rain or snow, so in a rare case you would have to contact your ISP. If that doesn't work reset your modem, and router, if that still doesn't work then maybe reset your connection via ethernet from router to laptop?
