Why does my iPhone 4 say there are headphones in when there isn't?

I dropped the top of my iphone in water about an hour ago… And it is indicating water damage in the water damage indicator in the headphone jack. But, the only thing that seems to be wrong with it is that it says there's headphones in when there isn't. Is there anything that I can do to fix this? I have tried plugging in and unplugging headphones several times.

The water that went into the headphone jack triggered the switch of the headphones. And the small static electricity that water holds can be used to indicate that you have a headphone plugged in. Submerge the phone in a bowl of rice for a day.

Hope your phone works!
