Why does my iphone charger only work in certain positions?

My iPhone 5 charger only works when it's in a certain position, and sometimes it doesn't even work in that position. Why?

Because the wire is torn. Might as well just get a new one. Or you can tape it. Haha.

I had the same problem with my iPod. Your charger is either defective or too old. I would go buy a new charger and see if that works.

You have a bad cable charger. Have you worn it down? Usually it is the main reason why it malfunctions.

I have only had my phone for 3 months and there are no signs of wear on the cable. It was working in certain positions but all of a sudden stopped working and now won't charge at all

It isn't the same problem as when i have to bend the cord, its just taking out/putting in the cord.
