Why does my new computer have a much worse internet connection than old?

I just bought a 19.5 HP All in one PC, and the internet connection is very slow. On my old laptop, and iPhone the internet works flawlessly. I have tried scanning for viruses, restarting router, and restarting the computer. Nothing is working. Any ideas?

It's a network problem

Many times a "new computer" has sat in it's box for months before it's sold. So in this case, *new* is only for you. There's a lot you can do to resolve the slowness though.

Update your NIC and Video card and other system drivers: There are many programs on the Internet that are supposed to review the system and determine what drivers are out of date. The only one I like is SlimDrivers: https://www.slimwareutilities.com/slimdrivers.php
Run Windows Update and make sure you get the latest updates for Windows.

Finally, run an Internet speed test to find out if you are or are not getting the speed from your ISP you are paying for: http://www.speedtest.net/...edtest.net
Results should match your contracted ISP bandwidth. If reported download speed is significantly lower than expected (i.e. 20 Mbps instead of 30 Mbps.), contact your ISP for assistance.

By the way, while having a newer/faster CPU in your computer is sweet, the new CPU rarely means faster network speed. The CPU makes your programs run faster. The OS (Windows) and your NIC (Network Interface Card - Where the network cable pugs in to the computer.) has much more control over how fast your computer communicates to the network. After that, its typically up to your ISP how fast the network is.
