Why is iPhone 5c and 5s cheap in us but expensive in uk?

IPhone 5c is like $199 in us but £469 in uk and iPhone 5s is $99 in us but much more expensive in uk why is this?

Not sure you have your prices right there. But the USA is generally cheaper because they run their country better than we do!

Because they're American products, so no air fare, and because of the exchange rate. Nothing to do with "running the country"

Its on contract in the US Zara above is completely clueless.

I don't think you've got the prices right, but prices for contract phones will depend on how much they are subsidised by the service provider. A more accurate comparison is for unlocked and contract-free phones where the comparison for the 5s is:

16GB - $649 or £549
32GB - $749 or £629
64GB - $849 or £709

While the difference looks quite substantial, considering £1 is around $1.60, don't forget that the British price will include the 20% VAT, while the American price will not include the individual state sales taxes (which will be different in each state, except for the few which don't have a sales tax). Transport costs will be similar in both cases, as the iPhones are made in China.
