Why still can I not set google maps as my defualt GPS on my IPHONE?

This is lame.it should have been fixed years ago

When it comes to electronics, Apple is almost more like an evil cult than a manufacturer. They want you to us only THEIR products, so they build them to work with each other but not other manufacturers' products. (Microsoft has tried the same thing, but they were less successful because they control so much of the market!)

If you're a real Apple fan, you wouldn't WANT to use Google Maps, you'd want to use Apple Maps, even if it's an inferior product, because it's APPLE. Otherwise you could be disfellowshipped!

Above all, it's an Apple! Lack of choice with Apple devices is a design feature!

The question does not make sense.

The GPS is a physical device, one of the electronics modules within the phone. You can't change that.
You can use any program you want that _uses_ the GPS location information in some way.

How would an app act differently if it were "default"?
If you use Chrome browser, that seem to use google maps if you do something that tries to show a map location.
I do not see how you could have a "default" unless the phone has an external button to call up maps or something like that…

Say clearly and in detail what you are actually trying to achieve and someone may be able to help.

For info, this is what a typical iphone main board looks like (A 5S to be exact in the photo). The GPS receiver is part of one of the main RF integrated circuits, the one outlined in yellow.
