Why won't my iphone 4 charge via laptop?

I'm using a Gateway NV53 and there's four USP ports and none of them register that the iphone is recognized. I have gone to Apple to resolve this issue but to no avail. My USB cord is brand new and it works on my other laptop. Any computer whiz in the house?

You do have itunes, correct? I also own an iPhone, and I believe you need it.

There's a possibility that the iphone driver has might not be installed properly hwen you plugged into usb.
So try it with another USB port and once the device driver installs successfully you will get a positive prompt device ready to use and charging will work fine.

  • Regardimg charging iphone through laptop via USB cable? This is my issue. When I start my laptop (running Windows Vista), when I plug in my iPhone through USB, I can charge it and access it through iTunes as it should be but as soon as I unplug it, when I replug it the laptop doesn't recognize it and it won't charge at all. When I access device manager, I see a little triangle with an exclamation mark saying error code 10. Any idea how I can fix this issue?

  • IPhone 8 photos not showing up on laptop when connected via USB? I used to upload photos from my iphone 8 on my laptop with windows 10. I plugged it in via usb cable, then open the iphone, open the folders, and all my photos were there. Now all of a sudden when I do that and open the folders, there's like 3 photos. Why is this happening? To the best of my knowledge I did not change any settings.
