Will downloading iOS 7 use a lot of my cellular data?
I just got my iPhone 4 as an upgrade a week ago. As a lot of people are excited about, iOS 7 is suppose to be coming out tonight, probably in a few hours. I can say I'm kind of excited too (I never had an iPhone but I have an iPod Touch). I had to do some research and asking around about what takes up my cellular data (the internet data, not the actual usage on my phone). Downloading apps directly from your phone can take up your data so will downloading the iOS 7 do the same thing? Will it take up a lot of my data? I've already used more than a quarter of my data amount for the month so I'm trying to cut back on stuff that drains it easily.
I don't have Wi-Fi at home at the moment and I really want to download it tonight, but if it's going to take up a lot of my data then I can just wait to use the Wi-Fi at school tomorrow morning.
It will take up a lot of your data and will take a long time to download over 3g
First of all, iOS7 is NOT coming out tonight… But on September 18th. There have been cracked versions of it for months but if your talking about the actual release then it is not until the 18th. And yes if you download ANYTHING it uses data.iOS 7 will probably be a large upgrade considering how many changes are coming to it. It will take up probably at least 500mb. I would use Wi-Fi.

your iPhone 4 may be able to run new OS but slow, and requires 512 memory ram, and drive space for that OS, so it may be able to run but not as well as is,
also if you already have iOS 6, then it would be about the same, but some new features do not run on older iPhone models,
may be best to wait a while to find out more about other users trials on older phone,
if you do try, have original iOS installer backup, and backup syncrnized files before changing,

IOS 7 comes out next Wednesday, the 18th, not before then.
And you can only update over Wi-Fi. I've tried to update using data and it won't let me.
- Would downloading and streaming while Wi-Fi is on still take up cellular data? I turned cellular data off on my iPhone and turned on Wi-Fi. I'm allowed 7GB of data each month and the cell carrier told me not to make and big downloads or stream videos or it will slow my internet down. If I do these things while Wi-Fi is on, would I still be using up the 7GB? Or can I download and stream freely like I did with my iPod?
- Why does my iphone use data over night when cellular data is turned off? Every night I turn off cellular data and leave the iPhone on and one day I wake up and check my data manager and see i have already used 25 MB please help!
- When you have Wi-Fi and cellular data on at the same time, does it use cellular data? If I keep my cellular data on and also have my iPhone connected to Wi-Fi, will it use any of my cellular data?
- IPhone 5S taking a lot of cellular data? I checked the cellular data and "Mapping Services" is taking over 1GB in a few minutes. I tried turning off location services but all my data is being consumed. What could be wrong?
