Will my iPhone work in US while here from Okinawa, Japan?
I'm in the US for several weeks. My iPhone is not working. I have it subscribed to service in Okinawa Japan.
Should my iPhone be working properly to make calls and send MMS, and check email?
Is there something I need to do to make it work? Thank you.
Added (1). Thank you Tech One. But do I have to change carriers while I'm here? I'm still active with my current carrier from Japan.
If it is factory unlocked then I would surely work in any country with any carrier but it is a carrier locked then it will not work without that carrier. If it is factory unlocked and still not working in United States then try to change the carrier or contact for network support.

Update:
Yes we advice you to change your carrier or contact your carrier about not working of iPhone in US.
Japan IPHONE's are locked so there's no way for you to get service while you are in the states.
- Will my vodafone iphone5 work in Japan? Last year in Japan my iPhone 4 was pretty much just an iPod for the whole trip. I've got an iPhone 5 now but if it's not going to work then I probably won't bother taking it Is there any kind of pay as you go SIM card I can buy to use in my phone while I'm there?
- Will a Verizon iPhone work in Japan? I might go to the World Scout Jamboree in Japan in 2015, by then I will have the model of iPhone that comes out in fall 2014, but would a Verizon iPhone work there?
- Will a UK iPhone 5 work in Japan? It's on pay as you go here in the UK, and I intend to switch it to a pay as you go nano-SIM in Japan. I'm just wondering will this be possible? I want it to be able to work in Japan, obviously… Thanks!
- Will a straight talk iPhone work in Japan with a Japanese sim card? I'm pretty sure you can put a sim card in it but I was curious I want to go to Japan sometime but it is difficult getting a phone there being a foreigner and it is pretty expensive but I see people switch their sim cards with there phones a lot like with at&t ect. I wonder if that would work the same overseas? Like putting a japanese cell service provider's sim card in the phone? This probably sounds really stupid though but thank you!
