Will my vodafone iphone5 work in Japan?
Last year in Japan my iPhone 4 was pretty much just an iPod for the whole trip.
I've got an iPhone 5 now but if it's not going to work then I probably won't bother taking it
Is there any kind of pay as you go SIM card I can buy to use in my phone while I'm there?
For short trips you can try renting a sim card or just rent a phone if you really need it. Alternatives include renting a mobile Wi-Fi device. You can use internet etc, you just can't make calls, but with high costs I wouldn't anyway.
There are lots of companies online and at the airport that offer sims. I would recommend a data only sim if your only going for a short trip.
