Would I need permission to use quotes from a game?
I'm in the middle of creating a soundboard application for the iPhone and the quotes are from the game: GTA: San Andreas. Yes I know its old; its a classic. I'm going to be selling the app for £0.69 and was wondering if I needed specific rights from Rockstar to use them. I don't want letters sending to me explaining I have a court date.

Sorry Chris, you can't do it. You can't use copyright material in your app without permission. Rockstar is unlikely to grant permission for a cost that would keep your app profitable if they would consider it at all.
Since you are going to profit from someone else's intellectual property you would need to get permission (license) from the copyright holder. And, that might also extend to the actor(s) as well.
If you're truly in the UK, this is now legal as long as you give full credit and explain that the app was made because of your love of the game (making it a pastiche). You might also want to monetise the app with ads instead of charging directly since that would mean more people download it, making it and the game more popular.
- Would it be okay to put logos of other companies in without permission in my art? I'm joining this nationwide art competition in my country with the theme of "consumerism." I'm planning on putting an iPhone on my artwork but instead it will say iDiot. Will designing it in a slightly altered way avoid lawsuits? Do you think the competition will reject my entry if they saw a representation of the iPhone? It will not be the main object in my piece, just a little accessory. Like really small.
- Will my iphone info automatically sync without permission? I'm babysitting and I have my iphone plugged into their computer to charge. I just want to make sure all of my pictures won't upload to their computer. The computer is locked but it's still charging. I also put "don't trust" on the prompt that popped up on my phone about sharing with that computer. I just want to make sure lol.
- Where to find a HUGE library of inspiring/funny/ect.quotes? I'm looking for all king of quotes, for example there are quote apps for iPhones where do the developers find those quotes?
- Someone took a picture of me without permission? I was in a toilet cubicle in school and I was pulling down my skirt when I noticed someone's iphone over the top of the cubicle (the back wall). I don't know if they saw anything but I was so embarrassed and feel sick even thinking about it now. What should I do? My mum says to report it but I'm so embarrassed.
