Would it be pointless to get an iphone 5s at this point?
I wanted to get a new phone, and would prefer an iphone- quite fond of them. However, I can't afford an iphone 6 at this point. Maybe by my next paycheck I could, but that is beside the point. IPhone 5s is much cheaper, but I also know that after awhile, you can't get apps or anything on older gens which make them kinda useless. I don't know, thoughts?

An Iphone 5 would be okay to purchase right now. But I will always purchase Android phones. They are cheaper. I'm pretty responsible with my phones and I have never broke one due to dropping it. I can also replace my phone for a reasonable amount of money.
Don't worry… Iphone5S is able to update to the latest ios. The technology of phone are very limited… Every release of new phone are better specs & some unique feature… That's all. Smart buyers will not buy the latest but the older version. Don't be surprise when many are still buying android phone released in 2014. This apply to other gizmo like laptop, tablet, etc…
You can do almost everything on a 5s, with the latest iOS 9, that you can do with a newer phone.
Apple doesn't make a phone obsolete when the new model comes out. That is one of the great selling points about Apple. Backwards compatibility is always considered in their design philosophy. (Unlike some other corporations I could name!)
My wife still has her iPhone 4S, which can run 90% of the newest apps under the latest iOS. MY 2 years older iPhone 3GS, (now 7 generations of iPhones old!) is limited to iOS 6.1.6, but even it still has plenty of apps available for it.
I wouldn't worry about them phasing out support for the iPhone 5 series for at least another half dozen generations of iPhones and by then you'll be looking at an iPhone 9, or 10 series! (unless some even better technology is developed by then!)
- What's the point of unlocking an iphone? Hi guys so i know people unlock their iphones because they want to change carrier but the locked iphones are sold for 200$ so would it be possible to buy a locked iphone in the us & unlock it in belgium? I mean wouldnt that save like 400$? That seems like an impossibly good deal but maybe i don't really get what a locked iphone is.
- What is the point of iMessage on the iPhone? I do not get it. It's "faster"? That's all I've heard. But ever since that feature was added my texts started randomly not going thru or not sending for a few minutes. A little at first but worse and worse and now probably every day. Why not just send it as a regular text anyway? So my messages can be in a pretty blue bubble?
- What is the point of buying an iPhone 5 if you can get iOS 6? People say when you get iOS 6, you get to get all the features an iPhone 5 has, but if thats the case then why do you need an iPhone 5? Wouldn't it just be cheaper to buy a suckish iPod and get iOS 6?
- Making a 2d AI system for a game.get from point A to B, how to? I'm developing a simple shooter game for the iphone and I have been trying to figure out how to make my bot move from point A to point B given that there are objects in a way. Anyone can point me to a source that could help me achieve this? I'm using Box2d for my physics.
