A police officer video taped me without my permission what can i do?

Here is what happened a man was laying down on the bench beside me i then decided id lay on my side but my legs touching the ground i had my eyes open and was not! Sleeping! So the officer approched him then me he decided to pick on me (black officer) i guess cause i'm white i don't get the royal treatment like the other black guy? So anyway this guy was looking to bully me as soon as he came over to me he steps infront of me like your in trouble i had already sat up since i saw them tell the other guy something so the officer decides to take his iphone out and video tape me he tried to get me to confess that i was sleeping which i wasn't so i told him no i wasn't sleeping i was laying down on my side but not sleeping he then tried to say you were sleeping i said no i wasn't sleeping i was laying on my side so then he starts to really p i s s me off and i ask i've got a question why are you video taping me he says its a free country i can do what i want ok at this point is being an ignorant dumb a s s so i asked him his name and the other officer so what can i do? He had no right to vidoe me!

You can film the police, and they can film you back. Your in a public place you have no expectation of privacy. Some cops are starting to video tape interactions, this way when someone accuses them of cursing at them or hitting them, they can show video proof that it never happened.

What god-aweful state do you live in that you can't sleep on the beach?

Actually, he's allowed to do that. There's no law against anyone taking a picture/video of anyone else on the street. There only is if it comes to the police using that video to eavesdrop on someone, but since you had knowledge of him doing it, then he can.

You have a much lesser expectation of privacy when on a public beach, so you can't object to being taped no more than an officer can object when you tape him.

If you feel you were bullied, then file a complaint. They will have the video as evidence to confirm how both you and the officer acted.

Cool story bro. Did it actually happen?

  • Would it be okay to put logos of other companies in without permission in my art? I'm joining this nationwide art competition in my country with the theme of "consumerism." I'm planning on putting an iPhone on my artwork but instead it will say iDiot. Will designing it in a slightly altered way avoid lawsuits? Do you think the competition will reject my entry if they saw a representation of the iPhone? It will not be the main object in my piece, just a little accessory. Like really small.
  • Would I need permission to use quotes from a game? I'm in the middle of creating a soundboard application for the iPhone and the quotes are from the game: GTA: San Andreas. Yes I know its old; its a classic. I'm going to be selling the app for £0.69 and was wondering if I needed specific rights from Rockstar to use them. I don't want letters sending to me explaining I have a court date. Cheers for all your help, Chris
  • Will my iphone info automatically sync without permission? I'm babysitting and I have my iphone plugged into their computer to charge. I just want to make sure all of my pictures won't upload to their computer. The computer is locked but it's still charging. I also put "don't trust" on the prompt that popped up on my phone about sharing with that computer. I just want to make sure lol.
  • What happens when an officer says i will get a citation but he never gives me one. What do i do? My friend found an iPhone and told me to hold it for him, the same day the officers at my school where looking through the picture on the phone and called everyone the saw to the office, and i had the phone so i willingly took the blame for it, the officer said i would get a citation for it but i haven't gotten anything. It happened on Halloween 2013. What will happen? Will it go on my permanent record? Will it be hard for me to get a job? I'm a High School student.
