Christians is it a sin to get iphones?

They are expensive and we should help the poor. They are reliable, fast and easy to use though. My Christian friend has one. Is it hypocritical?

It is not a sin to get one no

No sin to get one.

No.
But many saints have separated themselves from the materialism of the world. Even back in the fifth century, Saint Benedict felt the need to do away with all material possessions and he lived cloistered in a cave for years with nothing, having one meal a day lowered to him in a bucket.

It's a sin to get one if you don't need one.

I have a galaxy s6 edge but I really need it since I'm a computer engineering major and Android OS has alot of handy features such as Java IDEs on the play store.

If you get anything just to show it off to your friends, that's a sin.

It is a sin to get hem in illegal ways.

No, this isn't the time of Moses. The poor today are irresponsible, stupid selfish drug addicts. Having children you can't afford and provide for is selfish. We could give everything we have to the poor, there will always be poor people for as long as there will be stupid, selfish people and drug addicts.

Where the fu*k are mobile phones or computers of any sort referenced in a ancient religion book?

I have an I-Phone but I eliminated my home phone lanline completely, so that saves you about $50-$60 eliminating your home phone. It doesn't really cost that much to have an i-phone, plus it can actually save you time & money because you can connect to wi-fi in restaurants, etc. Helps you prioritize your time.

An interesting historical sidenote. A Catholic priest, Father Roberto Busa (1913-2011) first invented hyptertext, which was a precusor to what we know today as text messaging. So is that evil? No way, Jose. Text messaging has saved peoples lives.

Christians aren't Amish, we embrace technologly and even have been the leaders in technological fields.

Well I will say this, you can tell what a person loves by looking at their checkbook ledger.

Now, I have an iphone, but if you look at my ledger you would see that I give far more to help the poor than I will ever spend on iphones.

When you have your priorities straight, then accusations of hypocrisy rarely, if ever, bother you.

Hope that helps.

  • Why people like iPhones? I can't never get people who like iphones to give a good reason, why? Some say it easy, but a lot have no clue on how to use their own phones. Can someone explain something useful that great about iphone? Everything they think is special other phones have been doing for years.
  • Should we impose sin taxes on recreational items like TV's, iPhones, laptops, etc? Anti-smoking advocates want to tax cigarettes for their costs to society. Okay. How about all these items? They're often mass-produced using a lot of petroleum-based chemicals and plastics, they are designed to break easily and be obsolete quickly, they use a lot of resources, they lower workplace productivity, and so on. Rampant consumerism is doing way more damage to society as a whole than tobacco is. Should we impose a sin tax on this dangerous behavior?
  • Should I keep the baby or abort? Is it a sin? Help I'm 18 I'm not ready for a child. I don't know what to do I haven't got enough money how can I do it for free I need to save up for the new Iphone 5s
  • Is Wi-Fi text messaging from iphones free to non-iphones? - 1 My boyfriend downloaded this texting thing on his iPhone that allows him to text me when he's out of the country without charging him extra for long distance. Will I still be charged if I text him? There's a different number when he texts from Wi-Fi so I will be sure to text that, but will I be charged anyways?
