IPhone 6 or should I switch to android?

I was planning on buying myself the iPhone 6 for my birthday next month, but I'm having second thoughts. I like the iPhone but I feel like it's too expensive and that it breaks really easily. I kind of want to switch to android again, even if I did I have no idea what kind to get! I'm thinking a galaxy maybe? I have no idea… What are your thoughts? Should I get the 6 or get an android? And if I do switch to android should I get a phone other than the galaxy?

Please go android! I have a Nexus 5 and it is the best phone I've ever had. It has a more powerful processor than the iphone 6 (not the plus). 2.26GHz - Nexus 5 compared to 1.4GHz iphone 6. A larger screen (5.0 inches compared to 4.7 on the iphone 6) with a higher pixel density of around 426ppi, well over 100ppi more than the iphone's ''retina display''. I have never had any problems with it at all (I got it last december). It runs 100% ''google pure'' android, which basically means it's running android the way google intended it to be (no bulky samsung touchwiz skins, htc, song etc). This only makes it more beautiful and even faster because it doesn't have those memory consuming skins to drag it down. That combined with the huge processor means lag is history!

The Nexus 5 is also not locked into the android ecosystem as much as the iphone is to ios. If you're brave enough, you can pretty much change every single piece of the software on the phone. Even low-level stuff like kernals etc You can do it by unlocking the bootloader and for example, installing a custom rom (modified version of android) like cyanogenmod (http://www.cyanogenmod.org/). None of this is possible on the iphone 6 because apple wants you locked-in to their ecosystem. Then of course you can customise all the usual stuff like widgets, live wallpapers (proper animated and interactive ones, not like apple's ''dynamic wallpapers''), apps, launchers (home screen apps).

Put simply: The Nexus 5 is like 1000 times more customisable than the iphone 6 will ever be. Android is also far, far ahead of ios at the moment. Ios 8 is getting widgets and 3rd party keyboards now. That isn't new. In fact, Android has had those features since 1.6 ''donut'' way back in 2009! It's like apple is moving backwards! Android 5.0 ''L'' is coming out in october and it will have over 5,000 new apks and changes from it's already massive predecessor 4.4 kitkat! The Nexus 5 will also be very first phone (apart from the rumoured ''Nexus 6'') to get Android L. In fact, you can actually download a developer preview of it (early version) now totally free on the Nexus 5. Again, something apple doesn't do for free.

The best thing about the Nexus 5 however is the price. Monthly plan comparisons on O2. Iphone 6, £48 a month over 2 years which equates to…£1152 spent after 2 years! Nexus 5, £23 a month over 2 years…£552 spent after 2 years! That's a lot of money saved. The unlocked prices boggle the mind as well. Iphone 6 16gb: £539 (that's the cheapest version!). Nexus 5 16gb: £299! That's a difference of £240.

What's that I hear you say? I can get a staggeringly better phone that came on sale last year for £240 less than a brand new iphone 6? Well yes you can, with the Nexus 5.

I have a new motto. ''Iphone 6: Bigger than Nothing, more expensive than everything''

Thing is a Galaxy S5 is the same cost of $199 cost as a 5s was & a 6 will be when it comes out Friday.

iPhone would be the better phone to make a long story short.

  • Will I lose my number if I switch from Android to an iPhone? For some reason I can't find a straight answer to this question online. Anyone who has made the switch from Android to an iPhone, did you lose your phone number? I think this happened to my mother-in-law. My husband wants to switch our plan and turn in our Androids for iPhones, but I don't want to do that if that means I lose my number. I have had my number for 8 years.
  • Switch chomp sms from android to iphone? I have an android as of now, but I'm getting the iphone tomorrow. I use Chomp SMS and I would like all my messages to transfer over to the iphone Chomp SMS, if this is possible? Can anyone let me know how to do this if it can be done?
  • Should I switch from iPhone to Android? I'm not bored with iOS, I just want to do more things that a PC can do with my phone. I know that Android allows you to do many things and all that. But it's just that I don't know if I can leave iTunes and the App Store. I own many apps like GarageBand and iMovie, and many many other apps that Android doesn't offer. Is it worth it to leave a good ecosystem to be able to do more stuff with your phone? Is google play enough?
  • Should i switch from iphone to android? - 1 My contract is about to expire. All my friends keep telling me android is better. I have been using apple my whole life and i guess i'm pretty happy. Is android really THAT better. I'm deciding between the iphone 5s, samsung galaxy s5, htc 1 m8. Please don't mention screens. I actually kinda perfer smaller ones. Mention anything else.
