Is Facetime free internationally?

My girlfriend is over in Europe right now; can we use facetime over Wi-Fi and not have it come up on the phone bill? I will be using my iphone and she will be using her ipad. I just want to make sure that no unexpected charges come up.

Yes, you just need Wi-Fi. Kind of like Skype.

Wi-Fi is free so you won't be charged extra but make sure your cellular data is turned off and Wi-Fi turned on.

Yep, You can use over Wi-Fi. Its free.

  • Will FaceTime work internationally? My sister's boyfriend was deported like a year ago and she wants to send him and iPod or iPhone so he can FaceTime with her an their daughter. ISome people said it would work but it's pretty far(he lives in Costa Rica). I know he has Internet connection but Skype didn't work when we tried.
  • What is a good app to use to text for free internationally for the IPhone? I'm going to Mexico in a week and I want to be able to communicate (text, calls) with family in the US while i'm there. What is a good app to download for an Iphone that would be completely free for me and the other person?
  • Is kik free internationally I have it on my iPhone and I'm liking someone in England! Will I get charged? I know it will use my Internet but will I get charged other then that?
  • Is it free to use IMessage with your data internationally? Or is that only using Wi-Fi? I have a friend who is from Canada and I'm from the US. And he has an iPhone and so do i. He said that we can text on our phones for free internationally using iMessage, but what I've heard is that it's only free if you're using Wi-Fi. What about your data? Is it still free when I go out and am away from Wi-Fi and use my data? My messages still appear blue when I message him with my data but I'm concerned that it's not completely free when doing so.
