Is this too much to get for my daughter that's turning 15?

My daughter is turning 15 soon and I'm thinking about getting her the iPhone 5s, some clothes, and a car. She's getting her permit and I feel like my truck is too big for her I want to get her a smaller car but I'm wondering am I spending too much money on her for her just a girl that's about to turn 15

Well some parents throw those parties when they turn 15 and 16 and they spend like 5-10 thousand dollars or even more. It's a huge age. I think it's appropriate.

I'm 14 and I would be really lucky to even get a iPhone. I think that that is quite a lot for a 15th birthday, the car at least. The phone and clothes would be perfect but I think my parents would wait until I was 16-18 to get a car. But if I had been going through a hard time or has just earnt the rights to a car I think my parents might give me a car. Only you can be the judge on spending that kind of money. Remember 15 isn't really a big year to celebrate, I would wait until her sweet sixteen for the car.

As the mother of a teen girl (17), I would not consider buying a car for my daughter UNLESS you live in a remote area where there's no public transportation or school bus. If you live in a small community where she can get to wherever she needs by walking or getting a ride from you or someone else, I don't see why she would need a car. Also, insurance is a fortune for underage drivers.

As for the phone, what is wrong with the one she has? Also, is she an excellent student who does well not only in school, but is also a responsible kid @ home? It's really important for us parents to instill responsibility and teach these kids the skills they will need to become independent. Many kids now feel very entitled, because society (and the media) has shown them that they are deserving, but they fail to say why, and this is because they are NOT deserving.

My daughter has had summer jobs since she finished 7th grade. Since then she has, for the most part, bought almost all of her clothes/makeup/movie tickets, etc. She will be taking her drivers test soon, and will be using a hand-me-down car that was my stepson's, to get to work. Since we pay high taxes that pay for her to have a school bus. There's no reason for her to drive to school, unless she has special activities.

My father refused to LEND me money to buy my first car, so I had to hunker down, work hard, and save. I was able to buy a car on my own. It was the best feeling ever! Why deny that wonderful feeling for our kids?

You want to buy your child a car before she can even drive & you have to ask people online if you are spending way to much? Troll? Yes you must be a troll or clueless parent
