Is unlocking an iPhone illegal if i do it for money?
If i offered a service to make the iPhone unlocked from its carrier, would it be illegal to do that?
No sir/ma'am. You are free to do so, but you will have to abide by the unfortunate circumstances if anything happens to your phone.
No, all you're doing is changing the software on the phone. It might be against a select providers terms and conditons but there's a big difference between that and being illegal. A lot of providers will actually unlock it for you if you ask them.

- Is unlocking an iPhone by jailbreak illegal? So I've been reading about this whole deal on the new law against unlocking your smartphone yet jailbreaking isn't illegal. So what if I unlock my phone through jailbreak? Is that necessarily illegal?
- Is jailbreaking an iPhone 4s the same as unlocking (supposedly illegal now)? I'm an Android user so if I'm not using the correct terms then I apologize. I've read that jailbreaking an iPhone 4s has it's advantages. So is jailbreaking similar to unlocking or to rooting (Android)? Also, if an iPhone is "jailbroken" can it be updated to iOS 7 or does it have to be returned to its original state?
