T-mobile Bad ESN? Bought on ebay?

So i want to buy a cheap iphone 5s 64gb on ebay and unlock it on swiftunlocks for 2 $ and, i saw a cheap one but, it said that it had a bad esn number on T-mobile, correct me if i'm wrong but, doesn't t-mobile and att not use esn? They use imei numbers righ?! I'm not sure anymore, some people have been saying that carriers have been sharing blacklists and stuff like that so i don't know what to do, i'm buying it from the orginal owner so its not illegal or anything and he says all i have to do is pay 75$ to get t mobile to switch it out for me.

Something isn't right. T-Mobile doesn't use ESNs in their devices. If the phone is a GSM device, then all you should have to do is put your SIM card in the device and it should work. I'm wondering if this guy just thinks it can be used with T-Mobile, but it's really for one of the CDMA carriers.

Ask him for the IMEI number so you can check it out. If he won't give it to you, don't buy it.

And you don't have to pay anything to T-Mobile to switch anything.
