What legal actions can I take against someone who I payed up front that is no longer contacting me?
About 2 and a half months ago I posted an ad on Craigslist to hire someone to develop an iPhone app for me, we talked back and fourth over phone and email and he said he could do it, I decided to hire him and pay him everything upfront ($5,500) instead of weekly as it would save me money in the long run. I met him in person, had him sign a contract I got offline and edited to fit what we needed, and payed him with a money order. Now two months later I haven't heard from him, he had told me that his number might cut off because he was switching carriers, and it has but he still has my email and hasn't responded in 24 hours. I've got his old number, email, picture of his drivers license, and signed contract. If he continues not to reply to my emails what legal action can or should I take? I don't know if he skipped town, is just ignoring me, or even if he's still alive (he told me he had some medical issues).
If he signed a contract you file a suit against him in civil court
He is trying to get away with it. He'll probably try avoiding you at all cost.
Be calm, try meeting him, but get ready for suing him.
You need to file a claim against him to get your money back. With a signed contract like that he would lose for sure, I would notify him that you are filing a lawsuit against him to get your money back and that he needs to contact you as soon as possible. If he doesn't respond then I would definitely do that.
Any legitimate person would obviously contact you… So you should expect that he will have excuses at this point or not contact you. I would gather your evidence, make sure you have copies of all the things you stated and a printout of the money order to his name which you can get from your bank online.
- When you block someone from contacting you on the iPhone? What happens on the other end? Does the person trying to contact you get an instant reply message saying the number has been disconnected or is not in service? Or do they just try to contact you and you don't get the messages or calls so they think you're ignoring them? How does it work when you block a specific number in the settings on the iPhone?
- No actions on legacy comments? Ever since a few days ago on YouTube on my iphone 4, whenever I try to reply to a comment, it says "no actions on legacy comments. What in the world does that mean? Is this just some dumb bug that YouTube is having right now?
- My iPhone 5 is locked because the bill wasn't payed? Long story short, I bought a sprint iPhone 5 off of craigslist. Took it to sprint after getting a sprint sim card from the Apple store. Don't care what phone service I had at the … Show more
- Is it legal for someone take videotape you without consent if you are underage? I was driving home and was followed by some couple who, when i stopped, were videotaping me with their iphone. There was no one around, then they proceeded to cuss me out. Is it legal for them to have videotaped me if I was alone, under the age of 18, and did not know these people?
