Why was the iPhone 5 discontinued?
I was going to go get one as an upgrade from my iPhone 4S but when I went there the only phones on display were the iPhone 4S, iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s. I asked one of the workers & she told me that there are none in stock. I then asked her when they would be back in stock and she replied "Probably never because the iPhone 5 was discontinued by Apple." When I asked her why she said that she doesn't know.
Why did they discontinue a great phone?

It was discontinued because it was replaced by the iPhone 5C, which is exactly the same inside, but with a plasticy case, and is more expensive. If they had left the iPhone 5 on the market, then the iPhone 5c would just be the same, but covered in plastic and around $50-75/£65-90 more expensive.
Its the same price as 5S, and 5S is FAR better. No reason for 5 anymore.
Too many issues with the 5. The 5C is faster and way less hardware issues than the 5.It is a great phone created to correct the 5.

Everytime they come out with a newer phone, they discontinue the previous ones. Go to your carrier's website and see if they have any iPhone 5 in stock. If it doesn't show up in their website, that means none of their stores will have any in stock. However, if it does show up there then you can order it from the website or just try going to a different store location for your carrier to see if they have any in stock.
- Will the iphone 4 be discontinued soon? I'm willing to purchase an iphone 4, but I've called many shops and they said that they've stopped selling the iphone 4 and only had the iphone 4s and iphone 5 in store. I'm not so keen on buying the iphone 4 if its going to be discontinued in a couple of months. Is it about time that shops stopped selling the iphone 4, as it came out in 2010, and there are 2 newer phones after this?

My iphone 5 broke, and since apple discontinued the iphone 5 would they give me a different phone or do they still make them for those who need replacements?
