Buyer not paid on ebay after collecting item.further actions?

Basically I sold some machinery for my grandad for £1200 on ebay, after a £200 deposit was made, the buyer collected the item and left a cheque of £1000. The cheque bounced and I've received a chain of excuses as to why the buyer hasn't paid, his dad dying, iphone being stolen etc. After looking into his address and personal details, it's clear that he is a dishonest person from previous employers. What further actions can I do, small claims court?

Kill him

Report them to ebay and explain what's happened. If that doesn't work then yes you can take them to a small claims court.

This is why nobody uses eBay anymore; plus your personal information is sold on the internet via India.

For eBay you get the privileged of giving the welcher bad feedback.

Do they pay taxes over there?

No point at all reporting to ebay; you aren't covered by seller protection in this situation.

Holy cow you need to get yourself a lawyer right now this guy is playing you like a fiddle.protect yourself get his address and real name IF you can don't let him know you are doing this as he may scarper seriously follow him without him knowing… Get a guy to help you and go round there with baseball bats… I'm not joking sometimes you need to fight fire with fire.

Also you got any proof on ebay he bought it? Please check your emails in the ebay stystem NOT your own personal emails to him or received form him they aint worth jack. You need to have some sort of correspondence through ebay then the emais they have on there system will say or show communictaion with him about him comeing round and buying it… No? One other thing is that he gave a check oh my god check the bank account is real what is name on cheque and ask him for i d seriously people can make false bak acounts and have another idenitity and stuff its vital that you make sure that this guy is who he says he is really really important as if he is you have something in the system that you can go to a lawyer with

to be ohnest you are in the doggy doo here he can just turn round say he don't know you never bought it of you etc… I hate to say it but for such a large purchase you should have asked for maybe a bankers draft but its too late now for that… Seriously where is he find him go get your stuff back just take it… Otherwise you aint covered you gotnothing on this guy… I'm so sorry you got burned

(but the question is- why did you accept a cheque in the first place?
He left a deposit so he had some money, why did you not insist he brought All of it in cash?)
