SHOULD I SHIP MY ITEM TO THIS SUSPICIUS BUYER ON EBAY?
Today I sold and Iphone 4s on Ebay and everything was working out just fine, the buyer payed like usual. Then, the buyer messaged me and said "I accidentally put the wrong address. Can I change the address?" I replyed and told him/her "NO". I then went to paypal to see if it my funds were pending and they was. I also looked at the buyers buying history and he didn't have any. He joined August 14, 2014. Do you guys think I should ship the item or contact ebay?
No. Contact ebay
As long as you get paid it should be fine. I have put the wrong shipping address in myself before on Ebay.
Why did you say no to changing address? Always wait to ship until money is received. You probably would have had your money by now if you would have let them change address.
If you do not ship to the address on file you lose all seller protection. They can claim to never have gotten it and if you sent it to a different address than listed eBay won't support you even with tracking.
It was their first purchase apparently I can believe that it was a mistake. Doesn't Ebay purchase protection also protect the seller? You may want to review their policy by contacting Ebay.
Of course you can ship to another address. There's nothing wrong with buyer changing shipping address. Maybe it's a gift. Maybe he moved. But don't ship the phone until the payment has cleared in your Paypal account and is no longer pending. It is important for buyer to make sure the shipping address is correct. He is advising you before you ship. That is the correct procedure to follow. I don't know why you refused to ship to another address. He possibly forgot to edit the shipping address when he paid. If he claims it didn't arrive you have tracking and you have his request to change shipping address on record.
Yes.
If they have PayPal, they can have a number of shipping addresses on file. But if they want to have it shipped to a certain address… This should be done BEFORE payment is made. Some sellers will only ship to the address on file AFTER payment is made. I guess that s just to keep things simple.
Tell him you will decline or cancel the sale if possible and give him a few hours or a day to change his address. Then put the phone back up for sale and tell him so he knows he can buy it straight away. Then you won't lose buyer protection or anything and DON'T send anything until you actually receive all the money.
Only if you refund the held payment and he re-pays, given the "correct" address.
No ifs, no buts. It's a classic scam.
- Sold item on ebay buyer didn't recive? OK so I sold an iPhone on eBay for 175 I shipped it 2 days after receiving payment 2 weeks later the buyer tells me he hasent received it and he is asking me what can I do so what should I do I don't want to give him a refund cuase then he gets 175 and all I get is a missing iPhone so what should I do?
- I want to refund an item on ebay but the item has been modified? I have a cracked iphone that has the cracks colored in. They werent colored in before the purchase. Does this mean i can't get a refund?
- EBay buyer wants me to ship outside US. Safe? I just sold my iPhone on eBay and the winning bidder asked me to ship to Sri Lanka, he said he would cover shipping cost, is this safe? My listing said US only. Should I follow thru or offer the phone to the next highest bidder
- Can a buyer lie on Ebay/Amazon about receiving an item? For example I sell and IPhone, and ship it phone with delivery confirmation and signature. What if, after delivery the buyer decides lie by to filing a claim against me saying that the box was empty?
