Buyer want refund for broken item? - 1
I recently sold an iPhone of facebook market place and the buyer want his refund back.
When I sold him the phone everything was working perfectly fine, it been days later he then message me saying that the phone have speaker problem and want his refund back or he will report to the police… He even said I know what I sold him wasn't working, and that I should be honest and gave him his money back. He now threatening me saying he have family who are police and that he have my car tag
What am I suppose to do with this info… I sell him a working phone now he want to gave me back a broken phone… Tell me I can meet him and test the phone out myself.
Making me feel like I should just gave him the god damn refund so I don't have to deal with this mess, but I the same time I don't want to be scam again… What should I do?
Tell them you'll give the refund when you get the phone back so you can confirm that the phone is in the same condition that you sold it in.
My guess is, if it's a scam, they won't want to give the phone back. The stuff about having families that are cops, well, I'm guessing it's a bluff but it's ultimately up to you as to what you want to do.
Tell him the phone was working fine when you sold it to him and there's no guarantees when you buy a used item.Tell him it was his responsibility to check it out before he agreed to the sale.Tell him to go ahead and call the police. They will laugh at him.

This would just be a civil suit.
All his police contacts could do is make it easier for him to serve you

Sounds like a lot of BS to scare you, ignore him.
This is why you don't sell things on Facebook. You sell them on eBay or Amazon, where there are policies in place to protect sellers as well as buyers.
Tell him to go ahead and call the police. The police are not going to investigate the sale of a phone on Facebook. They will tell him if he calls them to take you to civil court, it's a civil matter.

Ignore him. The police would not do anything because it is a civil matter. He will give up and go away. He probably does this all the time to people. He is just making threats and as long as you know it was working when you sold it, you have no problem morally.
Also there's the law of caveat emptor, which means buyer beware. In other words anyone who buys a used item from a private seller takes his chances and can't expect to get reimbursed.
Let him squawk. The sale is final.
