Can i transfer my itunes library and photos using just a USB to my new macbook?

I want to transfer my iTunes library and photos from my old macbook to my new macbook. I have considered time machine, migration assissant, but they seem too complicated ( e.g for migration assistant you need a firewire/thunderbolt and it can take days or fail half way). Can I just do it the old fashioned way using a USB? (providing there's enough storage).

Yes you can because i do it all the time
