Canon SL1 or rebel t4i or canon sx50 ha?

I want to buy a camera transitioning from point and shoot camera and my iphone camera.
I want to take nice picture of nature friends and family and film as we'll.
can anyone recommend a dslr and what are your opinions about the above three cameras I've been looking into and found intrest

The SX 50 isn't a DSLR.

Work out a budget, discuss your needs with a dealer, and DON'T fixate on a single marque - that's even worse than the old, 'Canon or Nikon?' a question only asked by the terminally stupid.

You can't "film" with a digital camera… Video yes, no film.

Any Rebel model would be a good choice.

All dSLR's are good, all brands and all models. They are all basically the same. The more expensive the dSLR is, the easier it will be to take the shot if you know exactly what you are doing.

Only the SL1 and the T4i are dSLR's. The SX50 is not. Both dSLR's you listed are entry-level meaning it's for low-end budgets not necessarily beginners. In case you were wondering, there's no such thing as a dSLR made for beginners.

All three cameras are capable of taking "nice pictures", have a video capability. The advantages of the DSLRs over the SX50 are low light performance and interchangeable lens capability. As for which of those two are better, here is a comparison.

SL1! T4i is discontinued and is basically like the SL1 but bigger, and then you have the Rebel T3i and T5i but they're almost identical as well.
