Data roaming charges in Tenerife for an iPhone 4s?

I'm going on holiday to Tenerife tomorrow and deciding to take my iPhone 4s (my network is 3 mobile) not to make calls or texts or use the internet, but just to use the camera as it is really good. I don't pay my contract my mum does and she keeps on going that I better not rack up a huge bill whilst I'm out there. I know that the hotel I'm staying at has Wi-Fi so even if I do use the Wi-Fi will it be charging me and is there any thing I can do to stop myself from getting unexpected charges? I have turnt off data roaming but is there anything else I can do?

If you use Wi-Fi you won't be charged. Turning the data roaming off is a good idea, it stops any apps you have dialing into the internet to sync or check for updates. Using the internet abroad is very expensive so its good to turn the data off.

Heres a list of 3's charges in Tenerife:

  • Will I still be paying roaming charges if my iPhone is on airplane mode? I live in canada an my brother got a huge bill for roaming charges when he went to new York without even calling or texting. I'll be going to new York tomorrow and I would like to know if my phone will be roaming on airplane mode
  • What's cellular data roaming on iPhone 4? I don't know what the data roaming is on my iPhone 4, it has 2 options 1 is voice only and the other is Data roaming what does it do? Its always been off i think
  • Using my O2 free mobile data in Spain - do I turn data roaming on or will this charge? It's now free to text and call and use mobile data in Europe and I'm on contract with O2 and have unlimited everything. I'm just wondering if on my iPhone I have to turn data roaming on to get this or will this charge me? How does it work? As when I turn on my mobile data without data roaming the 3G doesn't work until I actually turn on data roaming?
  • Should I keep data roaming off on my iPhone? Should I? I'm in my home country and currently utilising my Wi-Fi, which is the only time I usually access the Internet anyway. As long as my data roamings off that means I'm not paying ANYTHING right? So should I keep it off?
