Disappointing my daughter. Advice?

(I'm publishing this article on my daughters account, just to clear things up)

I'm sure everyone is well aware of the recent launch of apple's iPhone 6 and 6 plus. Way back in 2011 I purchased a 16 gb black iPhone 4 for her birthday. (For financial reasons I did purchase the 4 although the 4s was available at that time) She was ecstatic. Although I'd apparently gotten the colour and amount of storage wrong, she was still over the moon with her very first phone. Around this time I had made a slight joke with her that I would then buy her an iPhone six when it came out; unfortunately we both never forgot this conversation. I told my daughter that she was due for a new phone earlier this year; her current one no longer charges past 25%, was cracked the week before and is out of storage. I believed it would be a great birthday present, especially since we had constantly talked about the mythical iPhone 6 way back in 2011. Jumping online to place my order, I requested a silver 64 gb iPhone 6.

We waited two months. I was constantly sending emails back and forth with my carrier, desperate to know why it had taken so long. After a six week wait we were told that they 'simply couldn't' supply the phone to us.
I was appalled. The carrier had led us on for two months that they were currently filling in orders around China before they would receive more stock in Australia. I have honestly no clue on how to tell my daughter the news, and would desperately appreciate some help.

Just be honest - she won't mind as you are trying to make her happy - sometimes these things happen

Well that was hard.

Try buying it online. Or going to a different store.

  • My daughter does not know what she wants for christmas she is 11 years old? My daughter already has an iPod, Kindle, and iPhone.she's not girly.comment if you have any ideas!
  • Is my daughter spoiled for having an iPhone? My daughter is 13 and we bought her an iPhone 5 when it came in the stores, people think she's "spoiled".Is she really spoiled? She has other phones in case one runs out of battery. She isn't the nicest kid she does brag about the stuff she has and I don't have a problem with it if you buy something what's wrong with bragging? I don't think iPhones are expensive.
