Do I need to have data roaming switched on my iPhone, even if I'm not abroad?
Not necessary.
No. It's for when you go to Yosemite and camp for a few days and your carrier has few towers if any around. Your phone will try to find anybody's nearest tower to use for data or voice. Keep it off if you don't do that kind of stuff. It's an extra charge. Best luck.

- Using my O2 free mobile data in Spain - do I turn data roaming on or will this charge? It's now free to text and call and use mobile data in Europe and I'm on contract with O2 and have unlimited everything. I'm just wondering if on my iPhone I have to turn data roaming on to get this or will this charge me? How does it work? As when I turn on my mobile data without data roaming the 3G doesn't work until I actually turn on data roaming?
