Found lost iphone what do i do?

So i a couple of days ago i found a lost iphone, i took it in hopes of trying to locate its owner, the phone is a 4s, at least an ios7, not sure what version of it, i don't know the cell provider of the phone, the service had been shut off, it has a pass code on, at the time i found it there was a name in recent missed calls, i looked them up however i could not find them, i tired to find away to locate who owns the phone but i was rendered virtually helpless being that the phone was locked with no service, today the phone said it was had been disabled, what do i do with it?

Try looking at the sim card and then you might know the cell provider. Then ring the provider and see if they can help you contact the person - there's usually a number on the sim card as well, so there's that bit of info you can give the cell provider. That's nice of you though, good luck!

First of all thank you for being a good person if it were me i would've… Never mind. About what to do, I would suggest you take it to Apple or contact them, I'm sure they'll know what to do.

Take it to your local police, you can even drop it off anonamasly, when people loose their phones the first thing they do is report it missing. Often to police, so if you want them to get their cell back hand it in to the police station. And for futue referance this is what you should hve done first. Or handed it in to the security of where you were. But congrats on being a good citizen.
you coud also put on kijiji found i phone and the location found. Often poeople will look on kijiji to see if someone is trying to sell their lost cell, but be carefull you give it to the right person

Take it into an Apple Store & see if they could help.

  • Lost my iphone, claimed insurance but found my iphone. Will both work? My question is i recently lost my iphone 5 (t-mobile) and had already called insurance and am receiving my new iphone5 through insurance. T-mobile had told me that they have lock/blocked my lost phone. But recently my friend had found my phone and is mailing it to me but what i want to know is that will i be able to use both the iphones? Or is the one i lost really locked and unable to use?
  • Lost iPhone - blocked imei - now found, can I unblock? I lost my iPhone but someone kindly returned it to the hotel I lost it at. I reported it stolen/ missing at the time and it got blocked- obviously I can't really afford a brand new iPhone 5 when this one is fine but now my sim doesn't work (no signal just 3G) if I go to O2 with proof it's me will they unblock it for me?
  • I lost my iphone! If someone found it can they use it? Can they erase everything and use it as if it was one they bought? I can't believe i lost it and i didn't even have a lock on it! Ugh.
  • I found a lost iPhone 4s, what should I do? I left the iPhone on for a few days but there doesn't seem to be any incoming calls. I moved the sim card to another phone but still nobody calls. The iPhone is unusable so I decided to restart it to factory setting. But, when I wanted to activate it, it says that this iPhone was reported stolen or missing, please contact the number #########. I wouldn't want to call it, incase if the owner miss interpreted my good deeds of returning it.
