How long should I leave my iPhone off and in rice after water damage?

My phone vibrated in to the bathtub tonight and I immediately grabbed it out, removed the case, sucked water out of the speakers/charger spot (yes that sounds weird but I panicked, this is my baby), dried it off and turned it off. I still needed to rinse off from my bath so I showered quickly and then put the phone in rice. How long should I leave the phone in the tub of rice before trying to turn it on?

Also, what else may help it dry out, I Really do not want to buy a new $600 iPhone, I'm a college student after all.

Do that for 5-6 hours.

Its really sounds so pity. Ya sometimes accidentally mistake happens. Okay I think in your case you did very well that you just put it off immediately and pick out your battery. Water damage is one of the big problem for such incident. Now for at least one day you have to dry your iPhone in sunlight. Be sure that there's no short circuit before you keep your battery again. If you think its still wet or something is problem I prefer you to take it for repair or service center of iPhone.

  • Water logged iphone? How long do I leave it in rice? My iphone SE was sitting in a big puddle on the counter for about 15 min before I noticed. The phone was still in working condition but had a few dark and blurry spots on the screen. I went to get rice and the spots seemed to have spread. I put rice in a ziplock bag and completely covered my phone in the rice. The bag was sealed and I'm wondering how long I need to leave the phone inside? I need to use my phone the next day and I'm not sure if it will be alright.
  • I put my iPhone in rice after water damage but it's still overheating? My iPhone 4 was only submerged in the water for a matter of seconds, but I dried it up as much as I could and then took it home and put it in a bag of dry rice for 3 days. I then turned it on and put it on charge, but it'll only charge up to 11% before overheating. If I put the phone back in the bag of rice for another couple of days do you think this issue will be solved?
  • How long should i put my iPhone in rice after water Damage? I had my phone in my pocket and without noticing i jumped in my pool with my buddies, I stayed in there for about 1:30 minutes and I got out of the pool immediately and tried to turn it off but my iphone didn't respond so I took the SIM out and dried it and placed it on a bag of rice with silica gel packs. How long should i keep it there? Or should I call a repair company?
  • How long should I leave my wet iphone in rice? I was pouring milk into my cereal bowl this morning, and the milk container ended up pouring all on my iphone 4S. When it got wet, it wasn't completely soaked, but it's not like it was just a splash of milk either. I think the milk managed to get in some of the cracks. I really don't think it is as bad as an iphone being dropped in water completely, so I'm thinking that I don't need to keep it in rice for as long. How long should I keep it in the rice?
