How to an unlock IPhone 3GS from AT&T so I can use it on my Verizon plan?

I got an iphone from a friend thats originally AT&T… My plan is verizon and i'd like to switch the phone over. I'm not tech savy but can follow directions. Anybody know how to unlock an IPhone

the 3gs is a gsm iphone and verizon is a cdma network.

  • Will I be able to unlock my iPhone with a home phone plan instead of a wireless plan? I don't have a wireless plan with AT&T but I have a home phone plan does that count towards unlocking requirements? And also can I use a mildly cracked screen as a replacement screen on my iPhone?
  • Is there a prepaid plan I can use with my 3GS using my AT&T SIM card? I know that StraightTalk has gone all screwy for us AT&T iPhone users. I really don't want to have to buy a new SIM card from anyone, especially not at the supply-and-demand prices one now faces in the mobile phone world. If I can keep my number, that'd be just too groovy for words; I don't really expect to be able to though.
  • Is the Verizon edge plan a good plan for me? I have the iPhone 4 and really want to upgrade to the 5c or 5s --not sure yet. Anyway, I also would want to upgrade to the 6 when it comes out. Should I get the edge plan so I'll be able to upgrade it or should I wait all the way until the 6 comes out?
  • How to unlock a US verizon iphone 4s to use inside the US on a prepaid phone plan? Like virgin mobile 35$/month plan ( unlimited text and web with 300 call minutes ) . Like can I use a different SIM ( Not from the US with the same data plan like virgin mobile ) and still use it in the US? Or any unlock in general? ( my friend gave me his iphone but i think he stole it cause he said not to activate it on verizon which is why i want to get it unlocked ) please get back to me As soon as possible thank you c
