How to charge iPhone 6 for the first time?

I just received my iPhone 6 and I was told by a friend not to use it and to put it straight on charge for a few hours, after looking long and hard on the Internet for advice I still don't know what to do?
Do I just use it with the charge it came with and let it come, Evelyn die and then fully charge it up again or do I chharge it fully and not ket it die?

I really want to extend the battery life and I don't know what to do

On most phones you just completely drain the battery and the fully charge it, you're also supposed to be able to charge faster in airplane mode, but iPhone didn't follow the rules, I recommend you doing what your friend said because it sounds like they have one and have already been informed, I myself don't have the iPhone 6 yet I'm still rocking the legendary 4 is that even legal to say? Oh well.

So thats just a myth btw… Li-ion batteries don't require that method. Older types of batteries such as Ni-Ion and Cad-Ion i think is what that last one is called, had to do that sort of stuff because it remembers (this is called memory) Li-ION batteries retain memory. I don't know what else to say, just turn it on and your good to go

and don't listen to other awnsers i can tell you that they are more than likely under educated about the topic

Also, if you think about it why wouldn't apple do this in the first place to extend battery? Because its a myth about Li-ion batteries

Lol stop being such a puss technically yeah to prolong life you let it uncharge completely then charge it but since it's knew it won't help right know won't make a difference

I wouldn't charge it, this has alot of good tips on new iphones: http://www.justtext.com/messageboards/20140527164344.html

Everything that I have read says its really bad to let your phone battery die. So use the phone just don't let it die. Here's a forum about it. http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=528975

Just use it.

Some older (pre-lithium) battery technologies needed the long charge before use, Lithium types "just work".

For maximum overall battery life, try to avoid leaving it on charge for long periods once fully charged and don't regularly let it get very low.

Being held at full charge causes the fastest battery degradation. Nothing to do with "overcharging", the battery is simply under the highest stress while at full charge.

Let is discharge completely once or twice in the first couple of weeks, and then every couple of months.
That allows the battery capacity monitoring system to keep track of the battery condition.

(The other big lithium battery killer is heat, though that's not usually a problem with phones - but laptops have severe battery problems when used on external power for long periods as they run hot).

  • What is the best way to charge an iPhone 5s for the first time? I'm getting my first iPhone, a 5s, soon, and I'd like to know what would be the proper way to charge it. I've heard different things from different people lately: charging it on airplane mode, charging it all the way but not using any apps, etc. Is there a proper way to charge it for the first time to make sure the battery doesn't die quickly, or is there a preferred way that anyone has observed? Please let me know.
