How to charge my iphone 5 for the frist time?

I just got my new iPhone 5 (first time apple user) so it started to die so i plugged it up and i was thinking there should be a little light that comes on to tell you that it is plugged up but there was none so i was just like that must be some kind of apple thing so any way i wake up this morning to find it comply dead and i was very confused so i go online and it says the i have to have a very powerful electrical socket well i live in a 70+ year old home and i was just wondering if that was the case but then i read that you can charge it up in the computer how do you do that?

To charge it on the computer just use the USB cord that came with the phone. Make sure you have iTunes installed on your computer.
