How to get started playing tennis?

I recently found that absolutly love tennis. I'm a beginner and would like to go pro. My school doesn't have sports teams and I live in a small town. I wanna be a pro. How can I learn to play as good as a pro? Any iPhone apps or anything? What are tennis coaches? Do you need one to go pro?

Honestly. If you are already in high school and want to go pro, you have little to no chance. Kids that train for pro begin training as young as 4 years of age. It's said that you need to achieve over 10, 000 hours of training to master something. That's over 10 years if you train at least 6 hours a day, 5-6 days a week. Plus, you need to get homeschooled, hire a coach, travel to tournaments etc. Thousands of kids train for pro their whole lives yet they never make it. A beginner trying to go pro is a near impossibility unless you have a god like talent.

Focus on enjoying the game first, get your skills up by taking lessons. Eventually, you can try if you want, but it's highly unlikely. If you're rich, then sure go ahead, go for pro. Hiring a coach, buying racquets, travelling, etc is very expensive.

Taylor are you joking when you say what are coaches? And NO Iphone apps will do nothing for becoming a pro, I doubt there's even an app.

Yes you need a coach to go pro. A coach is an adult who was very good at tennis when he/she was younger who looks to teach you their skills and how to be a good player. It is technical, you need to hold the racket right, learn how to hit the ball correctly, serve with force, learn to return serve to name a few skill sets.

Know if you want to be a pro you need to be playing tennis or training with a coach 5-6 days a week for several hours, it is a big commitment. So how about first you ask your parents for a tennis racket and a tennis ball. For a few weeks every day just learn to bounce the ball up and down on your racket. Once you get coached if they see some skill you can get free lessons or a scholarship.
Find a court near your house and a friend to just hit around with.

  • My iPhone (3GS) randomly started playing a song and turning voice control on today? Today, when I was in second period at school, my iPhone randomly started playing a song from my library. In third period, while doing an assessment, voice control turned on. At lunch, I turned my phone off and took it out of my back and put it in my inside blazer pocket. It might be a new bag I started using today that caused the problem. I really want to know how to stop this so I can stop worrying. (;
