How to pair iPhone 6 with macbook air for shared Wi-Fi?

Ok so on my phone, I have unlimited data for Wi-Fi and at home, I only have very limited Wi-Fi. Which is why I want to connect my phones Wi-Fi with my laptop so I can use unlimited data on both. However, when I tried to connect by bluetooth, my phone is showing up on the macbook air and my iPhone is showing the macbook air but it keeps telling me, "make sure network access is enabled." What should I do so they will connect? Should I use a personal hotspot? And if so, how do i set up?

First, if you have Wi-Fi that your laptop uses you simply connect your phone to that same Wi-Fi! You don't have to go through your computer you simply setup the Wi-Fi on your iPhone6. DUH.

  • Should I get a MacBook Air or an iPhone 5S/5C? I got enough money to buy an iPhone for my birthday, but my mothers says that if I save my money until Christmas, I can get a MacBook Air.
