How to recover my iphone 4s after water damage?

My neighbor hit me with a bucket of water when I stepped out onto my deck. My iphone 4s was in my back pocket and it got completely soaked, so I put it in rice for 2 days. It still doesn't work, but I plugged it into my Macbook today and it said it was in "recovery mode". So we tried to restore it, but it just goes back to the original screen that says "restore iphone" and "check for update" as if we never restored it. My friend suggested that the screen might be dead, but we're not sure yet. Any suggestions would be so useful at this point. Please?!

My mum left hers in the rain for a day and it was soaked completely. What we did was left it on the aga (stove) which is constantly warm for a few days and replaced the battery it is now fine just a shortened battery life

The person who said to go to the apple store is wrong, apple doesn't cover water damage unfortunately. When I dropped my iphone in the lake the other day, I was lucky enough that it was still working except for thie speakers. I left in rice as well. My advice would be continue to leave it in rice, making sure the rice doesn't get into the openings. Did you take the case off and dry it before putting it in the water btw? I would also gently shake the phone, and try to get any of the remaining water out. As for it still going to that screen, I have some questions.

Does it let you leave that screen?
Are you able to use any of your apps?
Does it hold a charge?
Have you tried charging it in a wall outlet?

Go to the apple store

Retrieve your iPhone 4s files from iTunes or iCloud backup with iPhone Data Recovery software.

  • Will my iPhone still work after water damage? It fell into a bucket of water last night and I can't turn the phone off because the screen is black. I can hear the phone ringing and vibrating, but can't see anything. I put it in a bowl of rice, is this fixable? Will the screen eventually work?
  • Why won't my iPhone 4 charge after water damage? My middle button wasn't working either but I sat it in a bag of rice overnight and now it's working again, only problem is my phone won't charge. How can I fix that? It wasn't completely submerged a little bit of water just got inside the base piece.
  • Is it good that my iphone shows up on itunes after water damage? I put my IPhone 4s in a box of rice. After a day or so i pluged to my computer and it shows up but says its in recovery mode and needs a resore! What are the chances my phone will work?
  • Iphone water indicators not pink, still possible water damage? Hypothetically, if you got your iphone 4s wet, but the water indicators are not triggered at all, is it still possible the phone has water damage on the inside that apple would find if they took it apart?
