How to travel to another country, with a travel size Wi-Fi router?
So I have Sprint, an iPhone 6 to be specific. I'm going to Mexico for 3 weeks, is there any way I can buy a Wi-Fi router which I can carry with me at all time and only use Wi-Fi, and have my iPhone on airplane mode.
You can't use Wi-Fi when in airplane mode.
You don't need to carry a router to use Wi-Fi on an iPhone.
What do you want to use Wi-Fi for. If the iPhone is in airplane mode, it won't connect to anything and won't make or receive phone calls or texts. If you are not carrying at least two Wi-Fi devices (or at least one Wi-Fi and one Ethernet) which are not in airplane mode, then a wireless (Wi-Fi) router on its own is useless.
I assume you want an Internet connection. That's what an iPhone should provide. Use the iPhone and turn on its hotspot facility if it has one. If it doesn't have a hotspot facility, change to a decent Android phone with a hotspot facility. This can provide Internet access with the correct SIM card and Wi-Fi for other devices. No need to splash out on a router.
If your iPhone is network locked, then you might want to get it unlocked, and possibly buy a Mexican PAYG SIM card while you are there.
From the tone of your question, it sounds as though you think Wi-Fi on its own provides Internet access. It doesn't. You need some form of ISP connection either wired to an ISP or accessed over a cellular phone network.
Yes you can carry it with you. Make sure you have a 1000 mile cable also so you can keep it connected to your internet service too.
- What's the difference between a cheap router and a good router? Just wanted to know the difference between a cheap router and an expensive router, I know that is a very broad question, I'm just a bit confused on how a router works. Does it increase my Internet speed on multiple devices? I get 50Mb per second, Well at least that's what I pay for. I have a PS3 two iPhones and a tablet, as well as a desktop PC that is wireless. Can anyone recommend an excellent router under $150
- If i bought an iPhone from another country would it work here in the UK? I've been looking on ebay for a while now for an iPhone 4s/4 and a lot of them are more affordable for me. I can't get a contract so if i bought an iPhone from ANY other country would it work here or not?
- I'm leaving abroad soon, and I'd like some help buying a personal travel Wi-Fi router? I want to be able to access the Internet on my iPhone 6 and laptop. I don't have the data to use to access my "personally hotspot" on my phone, so I need an adapter that I can carry with me. Since my phone is 4G, I've noticed some routers don't work for that. Does anyone know of any routers that are compact and work for the iPhone 6 (as well as other devices)? It is fine if it has to be plugged into my phone, I just want something that'll work.
- How does Wi-Fi work while i'm in another country? Ok i'm going to argentina for 10 days. I have a sprint iphone 4s. I got an international phone for calls. But will i be able to use my apps and search the internet? If there's Wi-Fi will i be able to use all my apps? For example, i have a texting app, would i be able to use that to text and not get charged?
