Best check with your provider first otherwise it might end up costing you a fortune in long distance fees.

First check with your cellular provider to find out how much it will cost per minute to use your phone wherever you will be. You may be pleasantly surprised. Do also ask about data roaming costs and not just making/receiving phone calls.

While you have them on the phone you should activate international roaming and international calling.

Wherever you are going you will almost certainly be able to get a pay-as-you-go local SIM card for your phone as long as it is unlocked. You can probably also get a SIM with a data plan. Doing that will probably be less expensive than using your USA cellular provider's SIM card, though most USA providers recently reduced their international roaming rates and you need to compare.

You will be able to connect to Wi-Fi with your phone, no matter where you are (of course, as long as Wi-Fi is available).

Finally, your phone charger works with any voltage and all you need is a plug adapter. Adapters will be available locally, and if you are living on a US base you > may < not even need the adapter in your quarters (that depends on the base).
