I get the iphone could not be restored.an unknown error occurred (3014)?

My Iphone 4 gets this message when I try to update it through Itunes… "the iphone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (3014)". I have the latest version of Itunes, and my IOS version is 4.2.1 (trying to update it to 6.0.1). I've tried all the help options the apple website gives. Like plugging it directly into the back on my computer, disabling my antivirus, disabling my firewall.
Its downloaded the update and everything, and it goes through extracting and verfiy and then the error seems to appear. I can't restore my iphone through itunes as it asks to be updated before I restore >.<

So please help: L really frustrating me

Added (1). Its not jail broken

This means only two things:
1. The IOS version is too old. (This one really doesn't affect that much)
2. You iPhone is jailbroken, is it?
If it is, you need to restore it in a different way, because the way you are trying to update it, goes to Apple server and the error comes from the server.
Download the latest version of IOS for your iPhone and restore it by way of DFU mode.
