I hate Windows 8 but loved Windows 7?

I hate Windows 8. Why? Here's why:
- The metro screen appears while I type at random
- If I leave the mouse too long close to the hot spots, either the metro screen appears or the search bar appears. This is an issue if I'm doing something like changing tabs or scrolling down.
- No Start Menu with folders but instead it has all of my programs listed
- Forced restarts. I've fixed this one but it drove me nuts. I nearly had a break down when I had a time limit and the computer forced a restart. Normally there are options like to push it off another two hours or something.

I've heard that it has better and safer design underneath it all, but I hate the user interface. I would rather go back to Windows 3.1 than to continue using the metro. I didn't have an issue with Vista or Windows 7. Heck I was fine with Vista after a few tweaks. Windows 8 is driving me nuts. If I wanted to use something like my iPhone, I would have bought a tablet.

Anyway, I can get Windows 7 Pro free from my school because it's part of some program with Microsoft. Dreamspark or something? I'm thinking about doing the clean install and getting rid of that garbage.

I have had Windows 8 for two weeks. What are your thoughts? Keep it or ditch it?

Ditch it. It's also badly programmed and unsafe underneath. Wipe the computer and start again with windows 7. Instal windows 7 and a good anti-virus and you've got a safer more useable computer in one easy step. Microsoft has never messed up sp bad as windows 8.

Me too.

simply because it's different from windows 7, if you like seven you will hate windows 8 because it's different.
it's only because you don't want learn things much different from your confort zone, it's psychology!

Ditch it.

Ditch it.
Windows 8 basically designed for touch screen devices.
If you have upgraded restore your previous version.

Yes, I know how you feel. I do computer repair, and
offer free computer phone help. Since windows 8 was
released I have had more than 150 complaints about
windows 8. 99% of those wanted to know how to get
back to windows 7. I bought a new desktop here back
in June. I had it built to my specifications. The lady tried
her best to give me windows 8, I told her if I couldn't get
windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, then I didn't want the
computer. A minute later she said we will be able to get
you windows 7. I said than you very much.
BTW I started out with windows 3.1 in 1995.
