I didn't know they replaced it if you lost it? I have apple care+ but i swear they told me it doesn't cover me losing it or it getting stolen.

Where did you buy the "basic insurance" If you bought Apple Care + it covers accidental damage for up to 2 years with a $49.service charge. The bad news is that a lost or misplaced phone is not covered. Perhaps you bought the "basic insurance" someplace else. If so you might have coverage subject to a deductible. If you do have coverage for a lost phone they usually replace it with a refurbished phone. You will have to check the contract provisions.
