If I text someone out of country for iMessage with an email will it still cost money?

If I text a girl from the UK off of her email for iMessage instead of number, would it still cost more money? I have iphone 5s AT&T unlimited text, but if I use someone's email for iMessage instead of number that doesn't live in the US, will it still cost more money

IMessage is free as you have nothing to worry about as long as its iMessage you are using and not regular text message

Imessage uses data rather than counts against texting. So you pay for it in how much data you have. It is NOT free to use. The app is free, but the data is not. That's a myth. So most people with unlimited texting plans should turn off imessage unless they are texting a non phone device like an ipad or ipod.

Some companies, like Verizon, has unlimited texting to other countries on some of their plans. You might see if ATT does for your plan. Then turn off imsg and send it as a regular text so you don't use data.

  • Out of country text charges for iMessage? I'm in Costa Rica and my boyfriend is in the us. If we text using iMessage because we both have iPhones, will there be a charge for sending or receiving messages? Ps I have Verizon and he has AT&T
  • If you send texts to someone who's out of the country will it charge per text? I have a iphone and so does my boyfriend and he's been in jamaica for the past few days and I've been sending him texts throughout the day just cause I miss him, but would that cost him extra money even though it's sending as a text message and not an imessage?
  • If someone texts me and I'm out the country? I have an AT&T iPhone and I want to know if someone texts me when I'm out the country, will I receive it when I come back? I know if they have an iPhone I'll receive it when I have Wi-Fi, but what about non iPhone users?
  • If iMessage someone in another country, will I get charged? Me and a friend both have iPhones but I live in Canada and she lives in the US and I can't text her because of long distance charges. Right now, I'm using a shitty texting app to text her but from my knowledge i can iMessage her with Wi-Fi. But I'm out a lot and not always connected to my home Wi-Fi but I do have data, but will iMessaging with my data charge me because of my carrier?
