Inserting Tesco SIM card in a locked O2 iPhone 5?

I want to buy an iPhone 5 second hand that is locked to O2. I've read off loads of forums that inserting a Tesco SIM card into a locked iPhone 5 WILL work. Can someone please confirm if this is true (past experience?) as I don't really want to use unlocking websites.

I doubt that. If it is locked to another carrier it would need to be unlocked for it to work with others.

  • Tesco sim doesn't work in unlocked iPhone 3GS? I have just bought a second hand unlocked iPhone 3GS off of eBay. The phone works fine but when i put in my contract tesco sim, it doesn't work and just says no service. What can I do?
  • O2 Tesco UK: which carrier my iphone5 is exactly locked to? O2 UK or Tesco Mobile? I checked the IMEI of my iphone and found its network is O2 Tesco UK. I want to get my iphone unlatch but don't know which carrier my iphone is locked to. I sent an email to O2 for iphone unlatching request and they replied "I'm sorry, we have not been able to unlatch your iPhone at this time. The reason given is: The IMEI xxx has not been used on our network, so it will not be possible to unlatch it." What should I do?
  • Locked iPhone and need sim card to use because I restarted it but i don't have the specific sim I need. Please i'm desperate? Ok so my aunt got me an iPhone from Canada but its sim locked and it says I need to insert a sim card for it to work. The problem is i don't have a sim from that specific company that locked it and the only thing I can do is emergency calls and all that. I can't even use it as an iTouch or something.
  • Inserting MetroPCS sim card into Iphone 5? OK, read this question carefully please. This is more for a technical expert. I currently have a MetroPCS android smartphone with a MetroPCS sim card. The sim card is a regular sim card (not a micro or a nano sim card). I'm aware that if i purchase a sim card cutter, that i can convert my regular sim card into a nano sim card. If i insert this new MetroPCS nano sim card into an unlocked Iphone 5, would my MetroPCS service work on my Iphone?
