IPhone 4 makes calls while it is OFF

I have an iPhone 4, and here is the situation:

1. I shut off 3G
2. I shut off Cellular Connection
3. I shut off Roaming.
4. I shut off Wi-Fi

I dial any number, and I can still make that phone call, and receive phone calls. Why? What connection am I picking up that is bypassing all these settings that are designed to prevent phone usage?

Happened to me, call apple as soon as possible

Put your iPhone in Airplane Mode to shut off all wireless connections (cellular voice/text, 2G cellular data, 3G/4G cellular data, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS).

Putting your iPhone in Airplane Mode does not "render it totally useless." You are still able to use apps that don't connect to the Internet (many games), take pictures, record video, listen to music, watch videos, etc. Effectively, it's like having an iPod touch with Wi-Fi turned off.

Note that you can selectively enable certain wireless services (like Wi-Fi) after you put your phone in Airplane Mode.

Remember that the device is called an iPhone for a reason. It's a *phone*.It's designed to be a telephone even when alternate services are turned off. The only way to disable the telephone function is to put it in Airplane Mode or shut off the device completely.

For further information, please consult the "iPhone User Guide for iOS 5" (page 233), available at the Apple iBook Store (it's a free download).

You really need to read the manual.
