IPhone 4 on iOS 6.1 not reading SIM card?

Basically my iphone 4 won't recognize/read SIM cards. I've tried multiple activated sim cards and keep getting an error message such as "No SIM card installed, Insert a valid SIM with no PIN lock to activate iPhone" and "and activation request could not be completed. If the problem persists contact customer care." the iphone was jailbroken before i updated it to iOS 6.1. Its also locked to at&t

Added (1). Have tried using the original SIM card. The phone doesn't even recognize that the SIM is inserted its just says "NO SIM" at the top

You need the original sim card that came with that iphone.

Since its locked, make sure you're using an AT&T microsim and that it sits in the card holder properly, you should hear an audible click when the holder is inserted correctly. The micro sim itself does not have to be active but does need to be free of scratches as iPhones can be activated and registered via a Wi-Fi connection.

  • Which is worse reading and not replying or not even reading it? On fb or iPhone or whatever which would you consider worse, reading something, and the person seeing you've read it, and not replying or just not reading it at all and I obviously not replying. In both cases not replying at all.
  • IPhone 4s not reading sim card? I just got a Straight Talk sim card for my unlocked iPhone.ST is in the process of porting my number, but my iPhone says "no sim" in the top left corner. I just want to know if this is normal for an unactivated sim card or if there's a problem with the sim card itself.
  • Changing from normal sim card to iPhone 4 sim card? I'm an AT&T customer with a smart phone. I'm wanting to buy an iPhone 4 but I know they take smaller sim cards than normal phones. If I buy an iPhone from an individual, can I take it to AT&T and have them give me a smaller sim card & transfer my information? Would I have to pay extra for it? Is it even possible?
  • Can you use an old sim card in a new iPhone after transferring the info to a new sim card? I'm borrowing an iPhone from a friend, but it requires a sim card. He transferred all his information to a new sim card in a different phone. Can I use the old sim card on a different iPhone?
